Alright folks, it’s about that time!
It’s about that time for everyone’s favorite holiday. That’s right – it’s Valentine’s Day.
Everyone loves it, right?
Haha, probably not. I personally don’t have a problem with the holiday, but I think we can all agree that V-Day is better when you’re young. I distinctly remember choosing Spongebob valentines one year and then being really choosy about which person got what.
Let’s just say if you got a Plankton one, you should steer clear of me in the hallway because you were not a friend.
And if you got an actual Spongebob one, then you earned a spot next to me at the lunch table.
Haha, kidding on that last one. I most certainly wasn’t a popular person in elementary school; but I did have the variety pack of crayons so you can say that ya girl wasn’t lacking.
Anywho, Valentine’s Day is definitely a lot different now. Right now, if you’re an actual adult (not just a pretend-functioning one like I am), you don’t really pay the holiday much attention.
If you’re someone starting in a new relationship, then you’re probably using the 14th as an opportunity to see how much longer you’re going to be with that significant other before you’re at their doorstep demanding chocolates and a heart-shaped box of chicken minis from Chick-fil-A.
If you’re someone that’s been in a relationship for quite a while, you’re possibly just going to agree to skip this holiday since you’re busy and give it another go next year.
If you’re single, and somewhat ready to mingle, then you’re probably going to buy that heart-shaped pizza from Papa John’s and binge watch Brooklyn 99 by yourself or with your best friends.
(Maybe so? I’ve lost touch with what the cool kids are doing these days)
Either way, different people are going to find their own way to enjoy or ignore this holiday.
Do what you want to do. I personally think that binge watching anything is the way to go. I’m not gonna say that Brooklyn 99 or Rick & Morty are my top choices, but I’m also not not saying it (how many double negatives did you count in that bad boy?).
And let’s face it. Anything heart-shaped is my choice of food. I would eat a salad if it were in the shape of a heart.
Just kidding. Everyone knows my personal boycott with lettuce that I absolutely REFUSE to budge on. It’s basically water and water is for drinking!!
But I digress.
Anyway, enjoy this upcoming holiday however you choose.
Working, dancing, watching a movie, or, and this one is my personal favorite, eating. Do you.
But I think we can all take a little tip from Junie B. Jones and her Valentine’s Day experience. Whether we’re giving Mrs. a headache or picking on our crush Jim, this is going to be the best ValentiMe’s Day ever.
I’ve also been told that Olive Garden is doing breadstick bouquets for the holiday so if nothing else is going to make you happy on this day, better hop on that Italian Stallion.
