The One Where It Won’t Stop Raining

IMG_7261

So you’re gonna be proud of me.

Or you’re going to not care less. Either way, I’m going to tell you the good news.

I have officially moved to Disney, and I am now a Florida resident!

I know, right? Seems like it was just yesterday that I was announcing that I got accepted into the program and now look at me. I freaking work for Disney now.

Since I start on-job-training on Wednesday, I have a lot of time on my hands. So you know what I did with it?

Spent as much as of it as I could in the parks! Which also means…I am making some serious headway on this bucket list of mine.

I went to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom all for the first time. And when I tell you, I swear I felt like I was five because that place is SERIOUSLY the happiest place on Earth.

I mean, I almost went into convulsions when I saw anything that had to do with Lion King. Seeing Mickey made me want to cry. And I was in absolute awe when Princess Tiana graced us with her presence.

Yes, it’s just that serious.

So here’s what I completed on the bucket list:

2. Play in the parks in the rain.

Since this is Florida also know as the bi-polar state, you’ll know what it rains all the time for about 15 minutes and then the sun comes back out blazing at full potential. So, of course it rained for every single day that I was in the park.

When we went to Universal, by the time we got out of Harry Potter world, which was absolutely amazing, it was pouring. Did that stop me from getting my butterbeer? You bet your bippy it didn’t. Running from the Gringotts ride resulted in my roommates and I getting soaking wet but being the last people allowed in the building.

And it was so worth it.

Yesterday was even better. It rained about 15 minutes after we got to Magic Kingdom, and since we are the brave people that we are, we decided to just brave the rain at first and this was the perfect time to take pictures in front of Cinderella’s Castle! Well, that lasted about a good 7 minutes before the rain decided to kick it up a notch and bring its friends Lightning and Thunder.

We took cover, after already being soaking wet, and got on the People Mover to kill some time. And, lo and behold, by the time we got off of it, the rain had magically disappeared. Yeah, Florida’s weird like that.

16. Have MY joke read at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

I knew this one would be absolutely amazing if it ever happened. We went to this right after riding Space Mountain and me getting to dance with Frozone (so legit), and I was beyond excited. I mean, Monsters. Inc is one of the best movies ever. And when I saw the option to text your joke into the show, imagine my little kid heart beating so fast. So I did text one (or three).

AND IT MADE IT IN.

When I heard “Here’s a joke from Jazmyn from Georgia,” I shook with excitement. And then later shook again because he said 2 out of 3 of my jokes! And shoutout to my roommates for being just as excited as I was for my benefit.

We don’t even need to discuss the mediocre response my jokes got. It was a tough crowd (or at least that’s what I’m telling people).

18. Get a dole whip!

I’ve actually been talking about a dole whip since I got here a week ago, and at Animal Kingdom, I finally got to experience what everyone has been telling me about! And it definitely lived up the hype.

I don’t even like pineapple, and I could’ve eaten four more of those bad boy if my wallet wasn’t already suffocating enough as it was.

27. Take a cheesy picture in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

This one doesn’t really need an explanation. It’s a must-do anytime when visiting Magic Kingdom. The cheesier, the better in my opinion.

And it was beautiful.

45. Visit Universal

Guess who bought their season pass to Universal? This girl! Guess who is also terrified of most rollercoasters? This girl! Guess who will probably just end up eating more foods than actually riding anything? This girl!

No shame in my game because this is what I learned.

Harry Potter World was all I had dreamt of and more.

Seussland is my new home.

The heat will probably kill me before any of the rides do.

So as you can see, I crossed about five things off of my list in the first seven days that I’ve been here and a couple of ones that are already in progress. But…I also haven’t started working yet, so we’re going to see how much I can fill in this week.

Sleep is for the weak anyway.
